Broward MPO Search

Privacy Notice

Effective: April 29, 2026

Supplemental Notice This Privacy Notice applies specifically to the unified search application at search.browardmpo.org (the "Service") and supplements the Broward MPO's main Website Privacy Policy, which also applies to your use of the Service. Where this Notice and the main Privacy Policy address the same topic, this Notice provides additional detail specific to the Service's use of third-party APIs.

The Service is operated by the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (the "Broward MPO," "we," "us," or "our"), with development and operations support from Daruma Tech LLC. The Service makes content from multiple Broward MPO sources searchable in one place, including pages, documents, podcasts, meeting agendas, mapping resources, and videos.

1. Use of YouTube API Services

The Service uses YouTube API Services to retrieve and display publicly available video content from the Broward MPO's official YouTube channel. By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.

Information accessed through YouTube API Services is also governed by Google's privacy practices. Please review the Google Privacy Policy, also available at http://www.google.com/policies/privacy, to understand how Google collects and uses information.

The Service does not request, store, or use authenticated YouTube user data. It retrieves only publicly available metadata — titles, descriptions, thumbnails, captions, publish dates, and view counts — for videos published by the Broward MPO's own channel, so that those videos can be searched alongside other Broward MPO public content.

2. Information Accessed via Third-Party APIs

To build its searchable index, the Service retrieves public content from the following third-party sources:

No private, authenticated, or user-specific data is retrieved from any of these APIs.

3. Information We Collect Through the Service

When you use the Service, we automatically collect technical information about your visit, including IP address, browser and device characteristics, pages viewed, referrer, timestamps, and the search terms you submit. This is consistent with the data described in the Broward MPO Website Privacy Policy.

The Service does not require you to create an account or provide personal identifying information.

4. How Information Is Used and Shared

Information collected through the Service is used to operate and improve the Service, return relevant search results, monitor aggregate usage, and detect or prevent abuse. We share information only with infrastructure providers acting on our behalf — primarily Microsoft Azure (hosting), Elastic Cloud (search index), and Daruma Tech LLC (development and operations) — and as otherwise described in the main Broward MPO Website Privacy Policy, including disclosures required by Florida public records law.

5. Cookies and Embedded Third-Party Content

The Service may set strictly necessary cookies to keep the application functioning during your visit, and may use similar technologies (such as web storage) to remember session information. The Broward MPO Website Privacy Policy describes the agency's general cookie practices, which apply here as well.

Specific to this Service: when YouTube videos are played, the YouTube player is delivered directly by Google and may set its own cookies and collect usage information independently of the Service. That activity is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect some features.

6. Florida Public Records

The Broward MPO is a public agency subject to Florida's public records law (Chapter 119, Florida Statutes). Communications and records created or received in connection with official business may be subject to public disclosure. Do not submit information through the Service that you do not want disclosed under a public records request.

Public records requests should be directed to the Broward MPO's records custodian, Jacqueline Barszewski, at barszewskij@browardmpo.org.

7. Changes to This Notice

We may update this Notice from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective" date at the top. Material changes will be reflected on this page; please review periodically.
